In my opinion, since it's legal to have an abortion, then there is really no way to get around having to transport a patient to a doctor who will do the procedure. Of course, the act itself should be illegal. I agree whole-heartedly that the taxpayers should not pay for the procedure though. Give More

I just received an e-mail that seems to put some things in perspective. I know it has nothing to do with abortion, but you could argue that it has everything to do with a Pro-Life stance. Right now, my wife and I are looking for a house. We already have what we need. We have enough rooms for everyone, plus an extra one for our computers, yet there is the need to have more. The house isn't in the most respected area of town, but it's a nice neighborhood. Yet, it's amazing to think that we're looking at houses that are 3 times the price of our current house. Many in other countries would consider our current house to be a mansion. We even had a girl selling door-to-door recently who was amazed that we were able to have a house that nice when we were so young. And we're looking to upgrade! Why do we do it? It's our culture; it's how we were raised. I feel like I can somewhat justify the need to move because I expect my family to grow and in this country, most children have their own rooms. I feel that I should give my family the best, while at the same time teaching them to give to those less fortunate.

I'll let the pictures below give the more powerful part of my talk. They may be hard to look at and they may not even be grammatically correct, but they are powerful.

Matthew

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://prolifedebate.blogspot.com/2006/08/complain-less-give-more.html' title='Complain Less... Though at times, she's difficult to handle (right now she's emptying the trash can), I can't imagine life without her. My life has changed dramatically since she was born. I don't have nearly as much time to myself, and I don't get to go out and do as much as I used to. But guess what, I wouldn't give her back, even if I could.

There is just something about knowing that you helped create a person, who is going to grow up and become an adult. There is something about knowing that you are going to teach her almost everything that she knows and that she's going to grow up to be a lot like you. It's a huge responsibility and it's something very serious and should not be taken lightly. Based upon the way that I see many children act, it seems that many parents don't understand the severity of this responsibility. If only they could see their children all grown up, maybe, just maybe, they would give some serious thought to how they treat them.

Actually, I wonder if they would. I've seen this show recently, "Honey We're Killing the Kids" where they use computer generated pictures to show parents what their kids will look like when they're 40 if they continue eating and taking care of themselves the way that they currently are. The parents are always shocked and amazed at what they see. Why? People can't easily visualize the results of their actions long-term (or don't want to). I wonder how many of these families go back to exactly the way they were a month after the show. I'm sure the percentage is high. It's just like any other habit or addiction. A person telling you that it's wrong and a week of trying is just not enough to break most habits. It's more a matter of the way that the parents were raised and the ruts that they have fallen into.

The more you think about it, the more you realize that EVERY decision that you make, regarding yourself or they way you interact with your children will have an eternal effect on their lives. So take life seriously, but never stop having fun.

Matthew

The onion - beyond satire?

What are your thoughts on this article posted at The Onion? If you're not aware, The Onion is a news satire site. The articles are completely untrue and only for entertainment purposes. Click the link below to see the article and let me know what you think:

I'm Totally Psyched About This Abortion!

In my opionion, this goes beyond satire. The way the article is written would seem to indicate that an agenda is definitely being veiled within this piece. An example:

"The funny thing is, I actually have the pro-life movement to thank for this opportunity. If my HMO wouldn't have bowed to their pressure not to cover oral contraceptives, I never would've gotten pregnant in the first place."

Although this is thinly veiled in satire, I think we can all tell what the views of the author are.

A quick search for "Abortion" on The Onion reveals many more questionable articles.

They have every right to publish these articles, but I just wanted to point out to my readers that we need to be careful what we accept in terms of entertainment. Be sure to talk to your teenagers about things such as this so that they will understand your beliefs and why you believe what you do. Please help them realize that their are things that should not be joked about, and that these are serious issues.

Matthew

My first blog post... well officially my second

Well,
I've finally decided to start blogging. I would say that this is my first blog post, but to be honest, I did post once before on my myspace site. I never really liked to write and my life isn't that interesting, so I didn't think anyone would be interested in what I have to say, but hey, who knows. Maybe it will be good for me to "express myself".

I am a subscriber to several pro-life newsletters and more than once I have found myself moved to tears when I hear about what is being done to babies (a.k.a. Fetuses) hundreds of times a day. Some day soon, I hope that I can do more with my life to help educate people on what is really happening, and be able to intelligently discuss abortion with people. I really do feel a passion for the lives of these potential adults. Just imagine that if your mom had been convinced to make a different decision, than you would not be here reading this. You would have never met your family or your friends and been able to enjoy this life that God has given you. Though things in this world may be stressful at times, you should count yourselves considerably blessed to be alive.

Enough of that. I just want to let you know that I plan on posting information of interest to those who are concerned about abortion and have a love for the future generation and do not want to see them murdered. Please subscribe to my blog and hopefully I won't disappoint.

Matthew
